Common Drawing Material to use with Watercolors and Oil Painting?

Common Drawing materials:
Before purchasing a lot of expensive art supplies or drawing materials, look around your home to see what you might already have. A common number 2 pencil with an eraser is a good start. Drawing should be fun, and people are amazed that your entire drawing materials consist of is a normal number 2 pencil or a standard black pen.

Watercolors.
Try using paint circles from your local discount department store instead of purchasing a set of tube watercolors. I have used these for years. One of my favorite watercolors sets is “ Happy Hour Coloring Set”. It sounds funny, but some of these inexpensive watercolor sets have some very good colors. I would recommend that you purchase some nice paintbrushes. Again, these don’t need to be expensive. There are many places that sell a bag of inexpensive sable paintbrushes. They usually have 3 to 5 brushes in them. A fine, medium and wide brush. If you need a wider brush to paint a background, try finding them in the hardware paint department. You should be able to find a wide assortment of brushes there. Paper can be purchased at your local discount department store.

Oils.
If you are working with oils, I would recommend that you purchase a beginner’s set. These usually have all of the basic colors that you will need to get started. You can also go to your local hardware store to purchase turpentine by the quart instead by the ounce at your art supply store. Linseed oil can be replaced with corn oil if needed. Canvas boards can be purchased at a discount department store.
