Ronald E. Langlois

Due to numerous requests over the past several years from people that wanted his artwork at an affordable price, Mr. Langlois agreed to start producing a limited amount of signed and numbered lithographs. His first series are a selection of four colored action sports fishing pictures and four pen & ink landscapes. He is presently working on a second series that will be released by the third quarter of 2004.

Fish Pictures Saltwater

Marlin Explosion:
This watercolor is from a photograph taken from a friend of mine. He took it while fishing in the Keys. I intentionally distorted the water so you would focus on the Marlin.

Blue Marlin Jumping:
With this watercolor I wanted to show a storm just leaving the area with the clouds changing from dark and stormy, to light and calm. In the Florida Keys, storms come up quickly, turning up the water and darkening up the sky. I believed that I captured the way the sky and water looks when a squall leaves the area.

Tarpon in the Weeds:
Tarpon fishing in south Florida is quite popular and I thought that they were an interesting fish to paint. When I was almost done with this painting, I noticed that there was a perfectly round black spot in the upper left portion of the painting. When I saw it, I was so upset that I was going to throw it away and start over again. Just before I tore it up, I realized that the spot looked like an eye, so I painted a blue fish being startled. It adds additional interest to the work and I was pleased with the final outcome.

Sailfish Leaping:
I only used three colors on this painting, blue, black and white. I wanted to keep the pallet simple, while still showing action. By keeping the pallet limited to just a couple of colors, it tests you ability as an artist. I was pleased with the way I captured the water and the way the fish is fighting the line. This is the third painting of action sports-fishing pictures in this set of lithographs.
